Remember two years ago, when The Force Awakens came out? It was this huge phenomenon and everyone was excited. Well, the time has come again. The newest installment of the Star Wars series is out. Episode eight. Now we finally get to see what The Last Jedi really means.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi was finally released into theaters December 15th. I saw it December 16th. Which was as soon as I was able. This Sci-fi/fantasy adventure stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher (RIP 😦 )and Adam Driver. It is rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and violence.
The movie quickly starts off and reminds you exactly what happened in The Force Awakens. Rey is on the Island and trying to get Luke Skywalker to help her. Finn is still comatose. Poe is still the crazy pilot. We finally get to meet Snoke, which was exciting.
So much happens throughout the movie. It is possible that too much was thrown in, I’ve yet to decide. There was a lot of building up. I would definitely say it was not like any of the other Star Wars films. I honestly had no idea where this movie was going to go.
I found the struggles in both Kylo and Rey to be intriguing. Were they going to be swayed by the light or dark side. Was Luke going to teach Rey or would he fail with her too? We got several questions answered that we’ve been asking since 2015.
I would have liked to have seen more of Benicio Del Toro’s character. There was something really interesting about him, he was almost like Lando. Hopefully, he’ll show back up I want to know more.
Rose was a great new character. I liked her strength, loyalty, and her commitment to the Rebel cause. She didn’t take crap from anyone and she didn’t give up.
Snoke ended up being pretty disappointing. I wanted sinister and compelling, like Palpatine. But he was just blah. He was probably the most disappointing thing about the movie.
There were a couple of space battles and there was a lack of real lightsaber battles. The action was almost non-existent much of the time. They seemed to make it work though, because I hardly noticed the lack of action.
All in all the movie was very fun and I think most people will enjoy it. It was good, because it was so different. I give it 4 out of 5.
