OGX Shampoo Product Review

In the past I have briefly discussed how sensitive my skin is. This forces me to be extra careful about what comes in contact with my skin. This is not a super fun way to live, but it is my life at this point in time.

Well, my skin in the past year has been acting up something awful. Almost as bad as when I was in middle school and high school. It’s been making me miserable and self-conscious so I have been trying to figure out the culprit. The breakouts were mostly on my forehead so I narrowed it down to shampoo.

Previously, I had raved about how great Herbal Essence was to my skin and hair. I started using it years ago. Well, never mind because Herbal Essence seems to have changed their formula to something that my skin can’t stand.

As soon as I figured out that this was the issue I immediately set out to find shampoos to try. This is always a bit nerve-wracking because you never know if your skin is going to get worse or better. And of course if it gets worse than now your stuck with a giant bottle of shampoo that you can’t use and you wasted your money.

Anyway, I decided my best option was to see what shampoo was being sold in the travel size section. They didn’t have much selection but I did find one. What I found was OGX shampoo. I was intrigued. It was only a couple bucks so decided to bite the bullet and try it out.

Pros:

Smell: The smell is fantastic! I picked out the coconut milk formula (I always pick that smell for some reason) and I have not been disappointed by how it makes my hair smell. It’s a strong smell but not enough to be bothersome.

Sulfate-free: This brand prides itself on my having sulfates in their products. Since I react to chemicals I thought something sulfate free would be good. Sulfates are not good for you and they can be found in so many shampoos. Sulfates actually harm your hair, by stripping out the natural oils, so I loved that I am actually helping my hair with this brand.

Hair texture: My hair is so much softer now. I think it’s because the shampoo doesn’t use sulfates. My hair used to get pretty dry when I used Herbal Essence and not I don’t have any drying issues. My hair and scalp even act happier. I haven’t had a bad hair day since starting it.

Cons:

Chemicals: Though it is sulfate free this shampoo still has a long list of chemicals. Any of which I could be allergic to. I wish shampoos and this shampoo in particular didn’t use so many chemicals. Just like sulfates there is no reason to have so many chemicals in a product like shampoo.

All this being said, I’m not 100% sure my skin is okay with this product so I will continue to shop around. My skin is so much better, but not like it used to be a year ago. I’m going to keep looking to find something that works for my skin and hair, and if anyone has recommendations tell me. But I can see myself going back to this brand though, because I do love it.

If you are looking for a great shampoo and don’t have any issues, like I do, I highly recommend trying this brand. It is pretty amazing and not too bad of price. Your hair will thank you and be so soft. It’s one of the bests I’ve used.

    • Thank you! I’m surprised so many people actually use this product as I hadn’t heard of it before. I can definitely see what people love though.
